Tiffany Henyard
Elected in February 2021 with 82% of the vote, the 8-year former village trustee Tiffany Henyard became the Village of Dolton’s first and youngest woman mayor in the village 130-year history. Since taking office, Mayor Henyard has expertly managed significant challenges facing one of Thornton Townships’s-largest villages, including budget deficits, hunger, and mental health resources. Henyard is a staunch advocate for government policy reform, social justice, and health care awareness. Amid village-wide unrest and calls for improving the community, mayor Henyard implemented programs to promote public safety and prison reform. Mayor Henyard’s signature priorities include the Block by Block program, an initiative designed to Dolton residents into homeowners by allowing them to purchase the vacant homes in the community for only $5000. She also gave residents 1000’s dollars in gasoline to help them get back to work after the COVID-19 lockdown. Mayor Henyard forged partnerships with local businesses to bring significant discounts to residents during the holiday shopping season. As the chief executive of the large village, Mayor Henyard brings a performance-driven approach to the job, creating a more responsive, streamlined, and efficient delivery of village services while shoring up Dolton’s financial future. With her experience as an entrepreneur/business owner, she is adept at executing, managing, and administrating an organization, having owned and operated a business even during her high school years. Henyard owns and runs the popular business called “The GOOD BURGER™ restaurant. “Being a business owner and a single mother helps her understand the needs of both the business community and everyday people,” said Henyard. She is also the recipient of the Chicago Anti-Eviction Campaign/Human Rights Defender Award, Chicago Honors “Community Activist of the Year Award,” the Dorothy Brown & New Millennium of Women for Change – Government Commitment Award, and the prestigious “Queens Award” for Service to Community during COVID-19 Crisis. Numerous publications and news outlets have recognized Mayor Henyard as a thought leader. As a life-long resident of Dolton, Mayor Henyard is passionate about Dolton and continues to live in the community where she grew up. She graduated with high honors from Thornridge High School and earned a Bachelor of Art’s Degree in Business Administration with the highest integrity, summa cum laude, from Robert Morris University.
